Terence Crawford put on an absolute clinic when he took on Errol Spence Jr. last weekend. Starting the show with his epic ring walk with Eminem, Crawford was simply flawless on the night. To make matters even more interesting, Crawford took some shots at Jermell Charlo while he was still fighting Spence.
For the most part, Bud Crawford showed levels in his fight against Errol. On the night, Crawford dropped Errol thrice before finishing the fight via TKO in the ninth round. In what was a boxing masterclass, Terence claimed his title as the undisputed champion in the welterweight division. Following his victory and crowning moment, many wondered what Crawford will do next.

Whilst many believe that a rematch will Errol Spence Jr. is the most likely outcome, there might yet be a twist in the tale. During the fight, Crawford, who was likely feeling himself, spotted Jermell Charlo in the crowd after knocking down Spence in the seventh. Whilst Spence recovered, Crawford could be seen mouthing off to Charlo saying “You’re gonna be next.” The moment caught the eyes of many fans who were left amazed by Crawford.
Further, after securing the victory, Crawford went on to jump on the ropes and celebrate in front of Charlo. Arguably, it was one of the coldest moments in boxing, and fans all over social media absolutely lapped it up. With a statement like that Crawford has garnered a lot of attention for whatever he chooses to do next.
Terence Crawford is eyeing a move up to super-welterweight
Usually a much more reserved and calm presence, one could tell that Crawford was truly feeling himself on the night. After all, he had just schooled a fellow top 5 PFP fighter and then proceeded to mouth off to the undisputed champion (Jermell Charlo) in the weight division above. Previously, Crawford has spoken about wanting to fight Jermell Charlo as well.
With that said Crawford has often expressed his desire to move on up to 154 lbs. As such, the move up is almost inevitable, and be it the rematch against Errol Spence or the fight against Jermell Charlo, will likely happen at 154 lbs. According to Spence, the rematch will likely take place around the end of the year.
As per Crawford’s trainer Brian McIntyre, Crawford is determined to beat Jermell Charlo and become the only fighter to have been undisputed champ in three divisions. Thus, trainer BoMac gave the press a scoop on Bud’s future. “Let’s go up to ‘54, knock off Charlo, and see what Charlo got. If he can go up to ‘54 and knock off Charlo, Charlo a little stronger — you see how Bud was twisting that motherf****r (Spence) around. Strong. Catching them punches and delivering like a motherf****r.”
Despite their plans to take down Jermall, it seems that Crawford and Charlo. will likely need to wait till next year. Currently, Jermell Charlo is set to face off against Canelo Alvarez in September. However, should things align, a fight between Crawford and Charlo around the same time next year is entirely possible.
