Previously, Tyson Fury was supposed to be fighting Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on February 17, 2024. Following Tyson Fury’s announcement of the fight’s cancellation, fans have been left distraught, as the battle for the undisputed heavyweight champion was something they were eagerly waiting for. The cut is genuine. Correct you can’t box with the cut. Correct has to be cancelled. That’s why he’s cut so he can pull out. Shit house

Back in 2013, Tyson Fury made a tweet aimed at David Haye after Haye had pulled out of a fight after suffering a cut. Eerily enough, this is the same reason why Tyson Fury has opted to postpone his fight against Usyk. And the Ukrainian’s promoter, Alex Krassyuk, had something to say about it.
Usyk’s promoter questions Tyson Fury’s hypocrisy
The stage for the Ring of Fire event is all set, with a generational trailer promoting the fight being circulated across social media. Tyson Fury called off the mega event due to a cut above his eyebrow. Without a doubt, this must’ve been a big blow, not only for the fans but also for Oleksandr Usyk. And the 37-year-old’s promoter certainly felt so too.
Alex Krassyuk, Usyk’s promoter, took to Instagram to call out Tyson Fury’s hypocrisy with regards to his recent statement. He quoted Tyson Fury himself from a tweet The Gypsy King shared in 2013. Alex Krassyuk said to his viewers, “Let me read you something.”

He then quoted Fury’s old tweet and said, “The cut is genuine. Correct you can’t box with the cut. Correct has to be canceled. That’s why he’s cut so he can pull out. Sh*t house”. Krassyuk further added, “This is the quote of Tyson Fury back in 2013 when his fight with David Haye was canceled for the same reason.”
Krassyuk was referring to the Gypsy King’s hypocrisy and double standards. While the cut on Fury’s eyebrow does look quite vicious, let’s take a look at how the English champion got it.
How did Tyson Fury suffer the cut which caused the fight to be called off?
On February 2, 2024, Tyson Fury suffered a deep cut over his right eyebrow while sparring. Reportedly, the cut was so deep that Tyson Fury required stitches to get it patched up. Fury’s promoter, Queensbury, reported this incident along with a statement from the camp of the English champion. This has made him postpone the much-awaited fight against Usyk.

In the statement, Tyson Fury said, “I am absolutely devastated after preparing for this fight for so long and being in such superb condition. I feel bad for everyone involved in this huge event and I will work diligently towards the rescheduled date once the eye has healed.”
He further extended his apologies to everyone involved. Fury said, “I can only apologise to everyone affected including my own team, Team Usyk, the undercard fighters, partners, and fans as well as our hosts and my friends in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
It certainly hasn’t been what fans around the world wanted to see. But there is still a glimmer of hope for the fans. The contract between Fury and Usyk contains a two-way rematch clause. This practically ensures that the fight will surely happen. And when it does, it might come with an immediate rematch.
