The WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, with a record of 33 wins, 1 draw, and 24 knockouts, is set to face former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in a boxing match on October 28. Following that, he will go on to challenge the unified heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk, who holds a record of 21 wins and 14 knockouts, for the undisputed heavyweight title. Both of these high-stakes fights are scheduled to occur in Saudi Arabia.
Fury has previously expressed his desire to face former champion Anthony Joshua before retiring, but he has now shifted his stance regarding this fight. ‘The Gypsy King‘ holds the view that Joshua is unlikely to earn a $100 million payday in the near future and should be content with a significantly lower income.
Moreover, Fury feels that it does not make sense to ask for that kind of money from the promotors because the revenue associated with it will not be enough. “What I keep hearing is 100 million. I don’t know anyone who wants to pay 100 million each, and he ain’t worth 100 million anyway,” said Tyson Fury to iFL TV.
Fury also admitted that his fight with Joshua would probably be the most demanded matchup in his country, the UK, but Joshua‘s financial demands do not make sense to him.
How much will Tyson Fury earn to fight Francis Ngannou?
Boxing champ Tyson Fury may have leaked MMA star Francis Ngannou‘s fight purse for the big fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Scheduled for October 28, this unique crossover contest will see both fighters vying for a special distinction. While no championship belts are at stake in this match, the victor will earn the right to proudly bear the title of ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’.
In an interview with the Mirror, Fury indicated that Ngannou’s earnings from the fight will be around $10 million. In contrast, Derek Chisora, as per The Sun, has asserted that ‘The Gypsy King’ himself is set to make a whopping $50 million from the big fight. However, on top of these figures, sponsorship deals will also bring in some cash for the two heavyweight titans.
While this kind of paycheck would be life-changing for Francis Ngannou, Fury is not new to receiving massive amounts to enter the boxing ring. In his fight against Dillian Whyte, Fury’s earnings for the fight amounted to $33.6 million.
While these figures are massive, they are nothing compared to what the crossover fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor made back in 2017. It has been reported that Mayweather made around $280 million from the bout. While McGregor’s earnings were estimated to be around $100 million. However, it is still to be seen how much Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou will make from the fight.
