Floyd Mayweather Sr.’s age, boxing career, and family
71-year-old Floyd Mayweather Sr. played the most crucial role in his son’s boxing career. He is the one who taught Mayweather Jr. to punch when he was just a little kid. However, before that, Mayweather Sr. had an impressive boxing career for himself.
Floyd Mayweather Sr. started his boxing career in the 1970s. And the parallel between the father and son can not go unnoticed. Like Mayweather, his father was also a master of defensive tactics inside the boxing ring.
Mayweather Sr. ended his boxing career with a record of 28-6-1 (18 KOs). He was considered a fighter who would step into the boxing ring to fight any opponent.
After he was jailed for 5 years, the relationship between Floyd Mayweather Sr. and his son did not remain the same. Mayweather Jr. even kicked his father out of his apartment and took his cars away back in 2003. They did not speak for 7 years, and it all started when Uncle Roger became Mayweather Jr.’s head coach after his father went to jail for cocaine trafficking in 1993.
However, lately, the relationship between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his father has improved significantly. And the support from family would certainly help Floyd Mayweather Sr. immensely in his battle with dementia.
