The undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford created history with his recent win over Errol Spence Jr. last weekend. From walking out with Eminem to his clinical performance, Crawford had it all.
Terence Crawford made sure to make Errol look like an amateur and got the big fish he talked about. Bud dropped Spence three times in their bout before he won via TKO in the ninth round.

With the whole world watching, Crawford has cemented himself as the undisputed champion in the welterweight division. However, this is not the first time Bud has become an undisputed champion.
Crawford has worked his way up to the welterweight division and has a history of dominating fighters in lower weight classes. All while maintaining his undefeated record. With that said, let’s take a look at the history of Terence Crawford’s undisputed title runs and discuss his next step.
Terence Crawford’s Weight class and his undisputed championship run
Although Terence Crawford currently fights at 147 lbs, he started his boxing career in the lightweight division, which is the 135 lbs division. During his time at lightweight, he grabbed the NABO lightweight title, which helped him advance in the WBO rankings. After that, he became the WBO and Ring lightweight champion within his next three fights.
After becoming a unified champion at lightweight, Bud set his sights on the light welterweight division. He first won the vacant WBO welterweight title against Thomas Dulorme in 2015. From there on, he captured the WBC, Ring, WBA, and IBF junior welterweight titles, making him an undisputed world champion by 2017.
Crawford’s undisputed reign did not continue for long in the light welterweight division. Bud decided to make a move to the welterweight division which is why he had to vacate his undisputed titles.
Crawford, later on became the WBO welterweight champion and defended his titles against some big names like Amir Khan, Shawn Porter, and more. After his last win against Errol Spence Jr., Terence Crawford became the undisputed champion for the second time and claimed the number-one spot in the pound-for-pound rankings.
What’s next for Terence Crawford after Errol Spence Jr. win
After a triumphant win over Errol Spence Jr., multiple opportunities have opened up for Terence Crawford. Since Bud is the number one pound-for-pound fighter, he would most likely dictate the conditions of his next fight. Before that happens, Crawford will have to deal with Errol Spence Jr. once again.
Both fighters had a rematch clause that could be invoked within 30 days of their fight. With Crawford easily winning the first fight, he will have to go against The Truth once again, in a different weight class. Their fight will most likely take place in the light middleweight division at 154 lbs according to Spence Jr.
If Crawford manages to defeat Spence Jr. he will most likely opt to fight Jermell Charlo. Charlo is the current undisputed champion at 154 lbs. Defeating him will make Crawford the only fighter to have undisputed status in three divisions.
However, Jermell Charlo will have his hands full fighting Canelo Alvarez. The bout takes place on September 30 and Charlo will be climbing two weight classes. As such, Crawford has already hinted he would be going after Jermell’s titles anyway.
This matchup might take some time to materialize with both fighters already having an opponent ahead of them. Until then Crawford will enjoy his undisputed status and wait for his next fight.
