Jake Paul has a habit of making his presence known in the fight world. Despite the first pro loss to Tommy Fury, Jake is back and will take on Nate Diaz in August 2023. Thus, with such a big-name fighter involved, many believe that Jake can outdo his previous PPV numbers with this one.
For the most part, Jake has often been criticized for exaggerating his PPV buys. Following his fight against Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia, Paul claimed to have done 775k PPV buys for the event. Prior to that, there were a lot of questions after his second fight against Tyron Woodley only did 65k buys as opposed to the 200k Jake stated.
More than 20,000 people signed up to get early access to tickets for my fight with Nate Diaz. If you signed up you will get a code tomorrow for on-sale at 5pm CST.

However, ahead of his fight against Nate Diaz, the hype seems to be at an all-time high. Taking to Twitter, Jake revealed that more than 20,000 people have signed up for early access to tickets. Thus, people that sign on for early access will be able to purchase the tickets from 6 PM ET/3 PM PT on May 10. Similarly, the full sale will begin at 1 PM ET/ 10 AM PT on Thursday, 11 May.
As for Nate, he has been a free agent ever since his last fight against Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 last year. Since then, there have only been teases of a potential move but nothing substantial, until now. According to Nate, Jake is the second biggest thing in boxing after Canelo. Thus, beating him would be a statement win and a perfect set up for his return to the UFC.
How many PPV buys will Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz bring in?
For the most part, many boxing promoters believe that The Problem Child is a huge draw when it comes to PPVs. Ahead of his fight against Tommy Fury, Bob Arum stated that the fight was creating a huge buzz in the United States. Whilst the numbers weren’t the best, Jake stated that he made a smashing $30 million from the fight.
If all goes well, his payout from the fight against Nate Diaz would bring him even more money. Thus, boxing legend and now-promoter Oscar De La Hoya has predicted that the fight will be a great success. Speaking to Inside Fighting, De La Hoya stated, “I think it could be like a 2.5- 3 million pay-per-views. Absolutely”.

Further, De La Hoya states that there is a real excitement for the fight since both opponents are evenly matched. As the Mexican boxing legend suggests, Jake has the power and size advantage but Diaz has a different style and years of experience in fighting. Thus, considering all the factors involved and everything at stake, it could well be a mega PPV event.
However, the event recently came under heavy scrutiny after Nate Diaz had to turn himself into New Orleans Police Department. Following an altercation with Rodney Peterson, Diaz was charged with a second-degree battery charge. Fortunately, Nate has since been released on bond and out of custody after his bail was ‘granted and posted’ for a reported $10,000.
