Boxing legend Mike Tyson has been issued a fresh challenge by Tyson Fury’s father John Fury. John, who retired from boxing around 28 years ago, last fought back in 1995. However, he wants to step into the ring again against Mike Tyson, who’s one of the greatest boxers of all time.

John Fury’s son, Tyson Fury, will be fighting MMA star Francis Ngannou on October 28. The clash will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Ngannou, who’s being trained by Mike Tyson, has called the clash an opportunity to make his dream come true. Mike has previously shared some clips of him and Ngannou being engaged in intense training.

Although as Ngannou gets ready to take on Fury, John Fury wants to take on Mike for an undercard fight before the main event. Speaking to SecondsOut, John said, “If he wants to fight me on the undercard he can! No problem. You know, I’m a fighting man. I’m old but I’m a fighting man, he’s a fighting man but he’s old.” He further stated that he doesn’t mind losing to Mike, saying, “I’ve been knocked out before.“

In addition to this, the 59-year-old also expressed his love for ‘Iron Mike’, having named his son after the boxing legend. Meanwhile, John has also added that there’s no chance that he would be missing his son’s heavy-weight fight against Ngannou. He stated that even if there were no planes available for him, he would swim to Saudi Arabia to watch Tyson Fury take on the 37-year-old Cameroonian-French boxer.

When did Mike Tyson have his last professional boxing match?

Back in 2005, Mike Tyson took on Kevin McBride in what was his final boxing bout. Tyson brought an end to a successful career spanning over two decades with a loss to McBride. Following the defeat, Tyson said that he would have liked to continue but he doesn’t have the fighting guts anymore. He further added that he had lost his ferocity and was only fighting to take care of his bills.

However, 15 years after he announced his retirement, Mike Tyson stepped into the ring again in an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr. The match was held in 2020 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. In a fight that went on for eight rounds, it ended in a split draw. However, most fans believed that the result was unfair since Tyson had dominated Roy Jones during the fight.

While Mike Tyson hasn’t fought again since 2020, he has remained open to fighting again. However, while he didn’t explicitly mention an amount, he wants the promoters to make it worth his while. With John Fury challenging the 57-year-old to the undercard fight, boxing fans are gleefully hoping to watch ‘the Baddest Man on the Planet’ back in action.
