Nate Diaz took on Jake Paul in a highly anticipated boxing match on Saturday night. Despite many counting him out before the fight even started, Nate did well to put on a show. However, following the fight, Nate had some interesting comments about his contest with Jake.
After parting ways with the UFC, and announcing his free agency, Nate made the decision to try his hand at boxing. As such, he decided to throw down with one of the biggest names on the scene, Jake Paul. Now 38, there weren’t a lot of expectations behind Nate, yet he managed to do better than his fellow MMA contemporaries.

In the post-fight press conference, Nate shared his thoughts on the fight. According to him, there was no need for Jake Paul to be saying some of the things he was in the lead-up to the fight. “Remember Logan Paul in New Orleans? This is not a real fight to be talking to me like that, this is a boxing competition.” Here, Nate references choking out Logan Paul-lookalike Rodney Peterson, earlier this year.
With that said Nate further explained his comment when he said that Jake “can’t really fight”. Whilst Nate believes that Jake is a young, hungry, and powerful boxer, he wouldn’t fare well in an actual, street fight. As such, Nate did not seem not entirely satisfied with the outcome of the event.

For the most part, Nate was in high spirits even after the unanimous decision loss to Jake Paul. Despite losing, Nate had his moments during the fight and even got the fans cheering for him. As such, the Stockton native would not be feeling too bad seeing that he was at least able to get a ‘moral victory.’
Notably, Nate also had a rather light-hearted post-fight press conference, where he spoke about numerous things. Moreover, due to a technical glitch, his interview was interrupted when the projector screen began rolling down on him. Diaz, who was in a good mood, saw it as the perfect opportunity to cut the interview short and make his exit. For those unaware, Nate has already made early exits from interviews on two separate occasions before the fight.

As for his future, Nate believes that an MMA rematch will likely be the next step. Seeing that he did not sustain any big injuries and did not get cut, Nate feels that he can be back within 3-4 months. After the fight, Jake offered him a $10 million MMA rematch in the PFL, on his “home territory.” Naturally, Diaz agreed to the offer as it was a no-brainer for him. Seeing that he has decades of high-level MMA experience, Nate will be heavily favored in the rematch.
Additionally, it appeared as though Nate wanted the MMA to fight sooner rather than later and even began fighting like it already. In Round 1, Nate seemingly went for a single-leg takedown before attempting a triangle/ guillotine choke in the 9th round. All in all, it was a thoroughly entertaining contest, one that the fans will definitely be keen to see once again.
