Francis Ngannou couldn’t contain himself after being asked about his upcoming fight against Tyson Fury, as he vowed to knock him out. Ngannou made the boastful statement after being spotted outside the LAX in Los Angeles. The two heavyweights are scheduled to fight in Saudi Arabia on October 28.
However, Ngannou will be fighting in a boxing ring for the first time, a fact that could easily be overlooked considering the confidence the Cameroonian displays. Contrastingly, his opponent, Tyson Fury, has been undefeated in boxing and is considered one of the best boxers of his generation. The British boxer is the current WBC world heavyweight champion, making Ngannou’s assertions all the more surprising.
Talking to TMZ, Ngannou had this to say in relation to his upcoming fight: “He’s good at coming back up,” Ngannou said. “We gonna find out how good he is — but he’s gonna hit that canvas”. Here, Ngannou also alluded to Fury’s capacity to make a comeback even after being knocked down, as he did in his fight against Deontay Wilder. But this hasn’t deterred Ngannou, as he seeks to test his opponent’s resolve.
In spite of his bravado, Ngannou is a big underdog in his fight against Fury, but Joe Joyce, a boxer who has trained and sparred with both Ngannou and Fury, has stated that the former is a bigger puncher than Fury. He further mentioned that Fury also packs a punch in his fists, referring to his KOs of Dillian Whyte and Deontay Wilder.
Francis Ngannou is being trained by Mike Tyson
In the buildup to his fight on October 28, Ngannou has the privilege of being trained by one of the best boxers the world has ever witnessed, in the form of Mike Tyson. Tyson, who became the heavyweight champion of the world at just 20 years of age, knows a thing or two about boxing. As such, his experience is invaluable to someone like Ngannou, who is making his debut in the sport of boxing.

Tyson is onboard the Ngannou train and believes he has the capacity to surprise Fury in the ring. “Tyson’s never been in the ring with somebody that can punch this hard,” said Tyson regarding Ngannou’s legendary strength, which many have witnessed during his time in the UFC. Moreover, Tyson is training Ngannou for his fight against Fury is quite the juxtaposition, considering Tyson Fury was named after the legendary Mike Tyson.
