After an extraordinarily controversial build-up, Devin Haney is set to take on Ryan Garcia on April 20, 2024, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The boxing bout was set to be a title fight. Haney was scheduled to defend his WBC super lightweight title for the first time. However, Garcia missed weight by over 3 lbs. The fight will now go ahead as a non-title bout.
If the title defense status affects the fight purses is unknown, as of now. Let’s take a look at how the expected fight purses look for the fighters.

It is assumed that Oscar De La Hoya had a slip-up when he revealed Garcia’s expected fight purse during an interview. Before the fight was announced as a non-title bout, in an interview, Oscar claimed that Garcia earns close to $30 million in non-title bouts. He was set to earn around the same amount in this fight.
Moreover, Oscar revealed that Garcia could double his payout if he wins. Therefore, Garcia could earn a massive payout of $60 million if he wins against Haney.
