Jo Lindner, famously known as Joesthetics, died at the age of 30, a few days ago. Many from the fitness community poured in their condolences. One of whom was Bradley Martyn. A member of the online fitness community, Martyn is also a YouTuber and hosts shows on his channels. On his Instagram account, he posted a video where he talked to Lindner about the latter’s rippling muscle disease.
Martyn enquired, “The rippling condition, it’s not a disease, it’s some sort of condition, right?”
Lindner responded saying it is actually a cramp. He said, “They call it rippling muscle disease, as far as I know. But, technically, it’s a cramp. “
Upon being asked how he got to know he possessed it, Lindner answered, “I sit on the toilet seat, you know, and I [went to] grab the toilet paper and it’s rippling like this. The most odd story, yeah!”

He further went on to explain the whole process:
“And so I knew like oh wow, there would be some kind of movement possible there right? And as I experience it more and more to happen then I saw ‘ah that’s how it does it’. You tense it up, you let the fibers get shortened, say, and then you squeeze it. And then you stretch it out and it cannot extend that quickly so it starts to rippling this way.”
Lindner died due to an aneurysm, as confirmed by his girlfriend Nicha. She wrote about the incident on her Instagram Story and revealed that it might have been genetic.
Jo Lindner stayed away from bodybuilding contests due to rippling muscle disease
Lindner explained to Martyn that he was afraid of taking part in bodybuilding contests due to this condition. He said, “The heart is also a muscle, that’s my biggest concern that what if I get such a bad cramp that my heart gets a cramp.
“That makes me scared. That’s why I’m staying away from bodybuilding competitions too much.
“Because I would take all these diuretics and if I stop eating salt and drink a lot, and then stop drinking as well, you would pee everything out, and then you would take a diuretic as well on top and then you pee even more sodium out.
“I cannot exist really. I cannot even walk anymore.”
