After Dwayne Johnson became a part of TKO Group, he gained full ownership of the ‘The Rock’ name. Following that, he spoke on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street. During the interview, he commented on owning the name.
Johnson said, “There’s the business side of that, as we know. There’s the economic side of that. But also, it goes much deeper than that. This idea, the name of The Rock, for me, I owe that name everything. Without that name, there would be no wrestling career, there would be no Hollywood career.”
He further added that the name was derived from his father’s name, Rocky Johnson. Thus, it seems owning The Rock’s name holds major significance for Johnson. Meanwhile, not only that, he also holds the IP rights to several of his nicknames and popular catchphrases.
