Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League which is one of the most anticipated games is all set to be launched on February 2, after a series of delays. The game will be available to players on PC along with the next-generation PlayStation, and Xbox. Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, King Shark, and Deadshot are epicenters of the game, with one task at hand i.e. to destroy the brainwashed Justice League heroes.
The game also includes superheroes like Batman, Green Lantern, and The Flash. In the game, players will be able to form teams of four players to battle opponents in the game’s sizable open-world city setting.
Kill the Justice League was first revealed in 2020, and since then several controversies have arisen about the game. Most of these controversies center around the game’s live service features, along with its battle pass and gear system. However, a senior Rocksteady employee has addressed the live service controversy surrounding the game and reassured players that the game will live up to the hype.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s live-service elements
Darius Sadeghian, the product director of Rocksteady Studios has addressed the live service components of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League during an interview with PLAY Magazine. He adds that even with these components, Suicide Squad does not qualify as a regular live service.
Instead according to him, the main goal of the developer was to create a cooperative multiplayer game that promoted “a sense of flow and trinity between all our gameplay systems.”
The main complaint regarding the live-service elements of the game centers around the aggressive financial tactics. This is because the contents get unlocked only after making payments. Furthermore, even if users purchase the premium edition, the contents get removed at the start of the following season.
Therefore to answer this, director Darius Sadeghian added, “you will be able to go back and play previous Battle Passes after a Season ends”.
The game’s developers additionally highlighted their design philosophy. They kept in mind that, despite the fact that everyone enjoys playing video games, people still have lives outside these games. “We all love playing games, but we also have lives (sort of) and that’s been a big part of our design philosophy making this game”, the statement added.
Furthermore, they don’t want the game to seem like a life commitment, where players will have to spend a lot of money to see every content that’s available in the game. They stated, “if the fourth player in your 4-player squad couldn’t make it because they have the audacity to have a life outside of the game, it won’t stop the rest of you from playing if you choose to keep going,” Players also shouldn’t feel like they are not making significant progress in the game if they do not invest sufficient time in it.
