Pocket Pair’s Palworld has been making headlines since day one of its initial announcement. The game has quickly become a top choice for players in no time. And now the game has already reviewed its first update within just five days after launch.
The game hit the shelves on January 18, 2024, and instantly recorded its name as the first blockbuster of the year. It topped Steam’s top seller chart and also registered its name among the games having the most concurrent players playing the game simultaneously.
Bugs in Palworld
Although the game was enjoying immense success a few players reported some bugs and issues. A few hours earlier, the developers acknowledged that they were aware of some issues occurring in the game, on X, especially on the Xbox version of the game.
For instance, it was earlier announced that Palworld players could create and join dedicated servers allowing up to 32 players to play in the same world creating guilds together. However, on Xbox and Windows PCs, the players could not create or join dedicated servers. Due to this, the online co-op mode was limited to 2-4 players. Additionally, the promised crossplay was also unavailable between Xbox and Steam.

Palworld Xbox players even believed that they were actually playing an older build of the game. This was mainly because of some of the missing features, however, Pocket Pair denied this. They even claimed that both versions will always be different until crossplay is enabled.
The devs even said that the differences were because of updates struggling their way through Microsoft’s certification process. But there was no such hurdle on Steam.
The post stated that certain bugs had been identified in the version of the game and that they were currently working on a fix. The devs also apologized to the players for the inconvenience. The bugs found in the Xbox version included a static black screen when the game was launched.
Similarly, the Microsoft Store PC version also displayed a static black screen on launch. Additionally, the control pad was not recognized, the key guide display was not being displayed correctly, and there was no button to quit the game.
Palworld Xbox update patch notes
Just an hour later, the devs rolled out the first update fixing bugs on the Xbox and Microsoft Store PC versions, which included fixing sound issues. A few hours later, the devs announced a more detailed update fixing most of the major bugs.
The update was announced via an X post. “Updates have been released for Xbox and Microsoft Store PC versions,” the post read. The devs stated that the update fixes some of the previously mentioned issues.
The patch notes of the update are:

Notably, Pocketpair has yet to explain Palworld‘s lack of dedicated servers issue on Xbox and Windows PCs. Earlier a spokesperson from the developers’ team said, “We’d like to have dedicated servers on Xbox but it’s unfortunately not up to us and is quite difficult to negotiate at this time! But… we are trying!”
It is still not clear what the Pokemon with Guns developer means when they say the addition of dedicated servers is “not up to us”, on Xbox, especially since other games do have dedicated servers on Xbox.
