SUMMARY
- Starfield is the latest in Bethesda's long list of RPGs including Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises.
- Starfield is primarily space based, with a big focus on robots, however, fans think it lacks a critical feature from Fallout 4.
It’s been a while since Bethesda’s Starfield was released, however, the reviews and feedback for the game haven’t stopped. The game recently received similar reviews concerning the robot companions in the game.
Over the months, Starfield has received countless feedback and reviews, including being review-bombed. Recently, a user posted a thread on Reddit about how they want the robots and drones improved in Starfield.
Fans ask for Robot customization in Starfield
Some fans expressed their opinion that Starfield must take inspiration from the Fallout series and introduce floating robots and drones to the game. The game is already set in the futuristic year 2330. Thus the fans think introducing artificial constructs such as the robots in Starfield’s futuristic theme should not be a problem. The tech-based setup could add more depth to robot-related gameplay.
Developer Bethesda is in fact no stranger to robots. Another franchise from Bethesda, the Fallout series has in the past offered characters such as Mr. Handy along with multiple synths and androids.
This led fans to compare the robot companions in Starfield to those in Fallout 4. Although Starfield does feature similar robot characters, the game does not have the ability to customize the robotic companions. For example, the characters like Vasco are proper NPCs that come without customization. Additionally, many of the game’s robotic figures are not known to float or hover.
Although fans enjoy playing the Starfield companion, Vasco, they believe that he is restricted in nature and not what they expected. The user suggested that they missed the visual of a no-legged robot companion, and how Fallout 4’s companion commands were missing.
Drones in Starfield
Reddit user ‘ShriyanshPandey’ posted the thread on Reddit, and got the support of several fans from the community. Fans are of the opinion that keeping in mind Bethesda’s vast experience in adding floating robots to the Fallout series, the devs should consider at least the introduction of drones in Stafield.
Bethesda you have so much experience making floating robots,Give us Drones please.

Many players suggest changing up a few mechanics to make Starfield’s hypothetical drones more interesting. A few of them even argued that an on-call drone would be helpful, particularly since some companions turn out to be hindrances at times. Making them available on-call would make them appear only when summoned.
Although the user did not mention what capacity they suggest the drones be introduced to Starfield, they suggest that Fallout 4’s Automatron DLC would be a good sample. Fallout 4′s automation introduced more varieties to Mr. Handy, Sentry bots, and Eyebots. It also included deep customization via a new robot workbench which allowed players to customize their machine allies.
The DLC even permitted colonies to be occupied by robots, thus helping players with trade routes. Fans believe that if Bethesda manages to implement mechanics as deep as those of Fallout 4 via a drone update in Starfield, it could help add another layer to the space exploration game.
