Vinicius Jr. is the torchbearer of Real Madrid’s new generation. The Brazilian youngster has harrowed defenses in Europe and is the defender’s nightmare. His exploits were evident in Real Madrid’s 4-1 smashing of FC Barcelona in the final of the 23/24 Spanish Super Cup. ‘Los Blancos’ lifted the title for the 13th time as Vini Jr. ran riots with a first-half hattrick.
The 23-year-old made full use of his speed and took advantage of a poor defensive display from FC Barcelona to score by applying two very calm finishes. The duo of Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo gave the two assists.
Vinicius Jr. then scored a penalty in the 39th minute to complete a quick-fire hat-trick. Rodrygo scored Real Madrid’s fourth goal on the night. While FC Barcelona’s only saving grace in the final was a Robert Lewandowski goal.

Although Vinicius Jr. received widespread recognition for his hat trick, it was his comments on French star, Kylian Mbappe that stole the headline. The Brazilian made some interesting comments on the Paris Saint Germain player that may have hinted at Real Madrid’s transfer plans for the French player.
Vini Jr. looked a little confused when asked about Kylian, and rather referred the journalists to Florentino Perez, President of the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners. The Brazilian said, “Guys, on new signings you should ask the president.”
The 20-year-old rather wanted to celebrate his team’s trophy celebrations. Vini Jr. said, “We’ve 25 players to do our best for Real Madrid. We’re focused on celebrating the Supercup and doing great things in the next games”.
He asked the journalists to stop wondering about Real Madrid’s transfer plans and instead praised the 25 players of the club who are doing their best for the club.
Vinicius Jr. defends his on-pitch behavior but is hopeful for a change
Fans in Spain have alleged that Vinicius Jr. has very provocative behavior. The Brazilian forward is often seen mocking the opposition fans by cupping his ears and kissing the Real Madrid badge on their face.
This has invited many strong reactions from the opposition, even going to the extent of racially abusing the 20-year-old. However, after years of pleading innocent, Vinicius Jr. has finally accepted that the Brazilian indeed has an attitude problem.
He said this after the game against Barca (via ESPN), “It makes me sad. Everyone wants to fight with me, because they know it will be ‘Vini did this, Vini did that’ in the press. “I try to stay calm and focused on doing as well as possible. It’s not all about me.”

He also added, “Of course, I’m no saint. Sometimes I talk too much, sometimes I dribble when I shouldn’t. But I’m here to improve, and to be a role model to kids. I want to improve.”
It is refreshing to see this mature side of the Brazilian player. Vinicius Jr. has finally started to regain his form after being sidelined for months due to injuries. With the return of the 20-year-old ‘Los Blancos’ would be hoping for title charges in both La Liga as well as in the Champions League.
