Anthony Martial is moving closer to the exit door at Manchester United. The French forward joined the English club back in 2015 but after nine average years, he might finally move away from the Premier League at the age of 28 years old.
According to Sky Sports, Turkish giant Fenerbahçe has submitted a bid of £6.8 million ($8.64 million) for the out-of-favor forward. Martial has only six months left in his current contract with Manchester United, as the player and the club assess the future beyond the current season.

Martial has made only 19 appearances in all competitions for Erik ten Hag in this season. In these appearances, he has only played 629 minutes and scored only four goal contributions. He has been out of the squad for the last two fixtures for the English club against Nottingham Forest and Wigan after nursing an illness that kept him out for three Premier League matches.
Apart from Fenerbahçe, West Ham and Inter Milan have also shown interest in the French forward who currently is the second favorite to summer signing, Rasmus Hojlund. Martial had a chance to cement his place in the starting 11 for Manchester United due to the struggles of Hojlund and Marcus Rashford in the league. However, the French forward has failed to impress in all his appearances this season.

Manchester United might extend Anthony Martial contract by another year
Earlier reports revealed that the English club has been discussing triggering a clause in Martial’s current contract that can extend his stay at the club for one more year. Martial provides depth to Manchester United in three positions in the forward line and can be useful to Erik ten Hag as a utility player of the squad.
The Dutch boss recently commented on the contract situation of Martial: “We are talking with Rapha Varane and Anthony Martial and we have triggered the options on Lindelof, Hannibal and Wan-Bissaka.” The manager later added that there had been an internal discussion between the player and the club about the future of the player.

Martial joined Manchester United in 2015 from AS Monaco. Since joining the club, he has made 317 appearances for the club, in which he has scored 90 goals and 55 assists. On the surface level, the numbers aren’t that bad, however, the performances of the French forward haven’t met the expectations of the fans and experts. This transfer window might be the final for Martial in a Manchester United shirt.
