SUMMARY
- Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League's IGN review is out and it's exactly what fans apparently expected, the game not doing well.
- IGN states that the game has its fun moments but the open world is tedious and full of tasks.
Ahead of the official launch of Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League on February 2, 2023, the game recently opened for preview for reviewers. Naturally, the early reviews have arrived and fans are surprised (sarcastically) looking at the reviews.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is an upcoming action shooter game developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games. Sequel to 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is based on the DC Comics team Suicide Squad.
The story revolves around four supervillains, namely Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark, who are gathered by Amanda Waller. They are sent to Metropolis to prevent the alien invader Brainiac and kill the members of the Justice League, who are brainwashed by him. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has an open-world design that allows players to freely roam Metropolis either individually or cooperatively.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League review
Popular review website IGN reviewer ‘Destin Legarie’ reviewed the game writing, “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Preview – We Played it and Didn’t Like it.” The reviewer mentioned that the game does have a lot of fun elements such as the character models looking great, the voice acting being on point, and “the team banter – at least during cutscenes – is when Kill the Justice League is at its best.”
However, they add that, “Unfortunately for Suicide Squad, once the fun story bits end, you’re left with a much less inspired combat system, and an open world that’s filled with tedious tasks.”
The reviewer mentioned that there are shining moments in the game with the combat like the powerful feeling of takedowns, however, it lacks depth to the build variety. Additionally, Destin says, “You’ll do it surrounded by teammates who won’t shut up with their quips… which quickly becomes annoying.”
They add that when the combat indeed starts, it has some fun moments, but it also comes with weird issues such as long animations to regen the shield. Another issue is that players get knocked out of an animation for vague reasons.
Fans react to IGN’s review
As IGN shared the review on X (formerly Twitter), the comment section was filled with sarcastic comments from users. A user named ‘NikTek’ took a dig at the review exclaiming, “What a surprise, I totally did not expect that a Live-Service Game would perform poorly,” trying to make a point that live-service games usually perform badly.
While there were several users noted that they didn’t see why anyone should really be surprised by the negative review and that it was expected to perform poorly.
This game was always going to be a flop they should have just released it years ago so they could have moved on by now

There was also a set of users who grabbed a chance to take a dig at the review platform IGN. A user ‘GoldenAgeGeek’ said, “IGN disliked something???” On the other hand, another user ‘AuthorTCManning’ wrote, “Oh sh*t then this game has hope if IGN didn’t like it :D”
Looking at the comments it seems like the community does not seem to have any hopes for the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and is prepared for the worst. That being said, it is to be noted that the review so far is just for the preview. It remains to be seen if the actual game release on February 2, 2023, manages to change the views. The game comes with a preorder bonus for anyone who preorders the game.
