Anthony Davis is finally starting to break loose after nearly three seasons of struggle. His team, the Los Angeles Lakers weren’t necessarily in a great spot over the last couple of years. They were battling through many consistencies and multiple injuries at a time that caused a downfall. However, ever since their 2023 playoff stint, the Lakers have been on a steady uprise. This is the best position they can be in right now.
The Lakers made a historic run during the inaugural In-Season Tournament. After losing to the Denver Nuggets during the 2023 NBA Finals, they made it a point to utilize the same momentum they had created. LA went undefeated during the tournament and eventually won the Championship game. LeBron James was honored with the tournament’s MVP Award. Davis claims this is exactly what he and his team needed.
Anthony Davis claims he’s locked and loaded for the remainder of the season
Since the conclusion of the In-Season Tournament, the Lakers have achieved a 1-1 record. Their first game after the tournament resulted in a tragic loss against the Dallas Mavericks. However, they capitalized on a weaker team, the San Antonio Spurs to get back into the run. Even though the Lakers are still wiggling through some struggles, Anthony Davis has been playing far better than ever.
“Feeling good. Jump shot feeling real good. Just being more locked in, knowing where we’re trying to go. You just need one of those games, and that championship game was that game for for me to get back on how I’m used to playing. And I hit 2 threes tonight!”

Following the Lakers’ sensational victory over the rugged Spurs, Davis said, “Feeling good. Jump shot feeling real good. Just being more locked in, knowing where we’re trying to go.” He added, “You just need one of those games, and that championship game was that game for me to get back on how I’m used to playing. And I hit 2 threes tonight!” Davis believes that their NBA Cup victory was much needed to motivate his Lakers squad.
Anthony Davis has been playing through injuries
Over the last two games, Anthony Davis has been dealing with a hip/groin injury. Before the Mavericks and Spurs games, he was listed as questionable on both occasions. However, he still managed to show up and lead the Lakers through two offensively power-packed games. He finished with 37 points and 11 rebounds against Luka Doncic the Mavericks. Davis wound up recording 37 points and 10 rebounds against the Spurs without James by his side.
As far as his injuries go, Davis claims that he’s not facing any difficulties. Amidst all their struggles, his injuries heavily damaged LA’s performance over the last three seasons. With Davis feeling confident in himself, the Lakers are set to achieve new heights. Potentially, they could be the ones holding the Larry O’Brien Trophy this season.
