The Jadon Sancho saga is heating up ahead of the winter transfer window. The winger has been on the sidelines for months at Manchester United but as per the latest development, the situation might change in the coming weeks.
According to Sky Sports Germany, the winger has a “secret desire” to return to the squad at Manchester United. Sancho remains frozen from the main squad after his public spat with Erik ten Hag in September. It was reported earlier that after an internal meeting between the duo, Sancho refused to apologize for his comments on social media, which deteriorated the relationship further.
The England international wants to return to the main squad to gain some game time to boost his chances of playing for the national side in the Euro 2024. The winger might finally apologize to the Dutch boss, and amend the relationship.
This secret desire was revealed after German reports revealed that Dortmund has emerged in the picture to sign Sancho in a swap deal with Donyell Malen. Manchester United values Jadon Sancho at $50 million. The price tag is pushing teams away from signing the winger in the winter transfer window.

Sancho’s desire to restart his career at Manchester United may stem from a financial motive. The winger’s current deal with Manchester United runs till 2026 which earns him around $440,000 (£350,000) per week. The English winger would be required to take a massive pay cut if he wanted to move to Germany or somewhere else.
Sancho moved to Manchester United from Dortmund in 2021 for $101 million (£73m). Since his return to England, Sancho has made 82 appearances for the Manchester club, in which he has scored only 12 goals and six assists.
Erik ten Hag on Jadon Sancho’s exit in January
The English winger has failed to replicate his Dortmund form in the Premier League. The on-field performances and public spat with the manager have pushed the winger toward an exit from Manchester United. The Dutch boss was asked about the possible exit of Jadon Sancho.
Erik ten Hag elaborated on the situation by stating: “So it is about a culture and every player has to match certain standards, and it was about that. So what will happen there, he knows what he has to do if he wants to return. It is up to him.”

The Manchester United manager was probed further about whether his man management decision in the case of Sancho is costing Manchester United financially. The Dutch boss replied: “I think that is an internal matter. We will see what will happen.”
The winter transfer window is opening next month, which opens up two possibilities for the winger. Either apologize and restart his career at Manchester United or move away from the English club to any other league in Europe.
