Max Verstappen and Gianpiero Lambiase continued their “married couple arguments” during the US Grand Prix. The Dutchman was clearly having issues with the brake which had him infuriated as the Mercedes driver caught onto him.
That was when Verstappen and his race engineer exchanged a tense radio message signaling that there may be some tension surrounding the two.
As Mercedes star, Lewis Hamilton, crept closer to him, Verstappen tensions increased which resulted in the two having a heated radio exchange as Lambiase tried to tell him the gap between him and the seven-time champion. However, Christian Horner debunked rumors about tensions rising between the two. He said,
“Their marital problems continue! Lambiase just had to get back to England quickly, so he was rushing to catch his flight. Normally that is Helmut Marko, but now it was an engineer.”

Max Verstappen, when asked if there is any tension between him and the race engineer, said, “I cannot see myself without GP on my side as an engineer because it’s super important to have that good connection and click basically, to get all the performance out. That [argument] happens sometimes. Most of it is always blocked off. We can both be quite emotional and vocal but we always solve it afterwards. So it’s all good.”

As Lambiase continues to be Max Verstappen’s race engineer, he is bound to hear the Dutchman shout and scream over the radio. However, Horner believes it’s the beauty of their relationship. He has also joked about their arguments making their relationship stronger. Despite the aggressive radio conversations, the two know how to sort it out after.
