Sergio Perez has had one of the worst seasons of his career. Although being in the same car as Max Verstappen has brought a lot of criticism, the driver has held his second position in the standings. But with the way Lewis Hamilton has been catching onto him, the Mexican’s future at Red Bull has dwindled more and more. However, the one person who gave him the support has now asked him to accept his position as a second driver.
Sergio Perez’s father confessed that Max Verstappen should get the respect of a champion. Antonio Perez spoke against his son saying,
“Checo continues to battle. The car is set for Max because he drives with all the grip at the front and Checo has done it all the time with the grip at the back. The position Checo is in is the one he was hired for, second place. There is only one champion and you have to understand that. He has to work for it and respect it. All this was built for Max to be a champion and you have to understand and respect it.”

The father was not having it at all. He urged his son to work hard and achieve the success that his teammate has.
Christian Horner asks Sergio Perez to pick up his form from the start of the season again
Christian Horner has now blasted a warning towards Sergio Perez. After Helmut Marko’s unending criticism of the Mexicans, Horner stood by him. But it seems he has now asked for a better performance too.
After his horrible Qatar end and also his DNF at the Japanese Grand Prix, the driver seemed to have received no support from his father or Christian Horner.
After recent antics, Horner said, “I think you can see he’s got into a little bit of a spiral and he just needs to put the brakes on that, reset, use this period – the two weeks now – to come back in Austin – another Sprint weekend – and really attack it and do the best that he can and extract the most out of himself like he was at the beginning of the year.”

Nonetheless, this will be a long ride for Perez. After stumbling quite a few times with his performance, he will have a lot to build.
However, thanks to his Red Bull team, he might manage to stay in front of Lewis Hamilton if he does not end up in any more crashes. As for Hamilton, he only needs a few more points to chase second place in the standings.
