Kai Jones officially found his way out of the Charlotte Hornets roster after an entire off-season filled with drama. Things haven’t been the same since their 2022-23 season concluded as the big man made several questionable statements online. It didn’t seem appropriate that he spoke against his teammates. This also caused a deep tear in his relationship with them as well.
The 22-year-old first started boasting that he would easily defeat prime Shaquille O’Neal and Michael Jordan. He also claimed that he would outplay Stephen Curry at the three-point line. He then accused LeBron James of using drugs as well.
But what caused a major disruption within the organization was when Jones claimed that his teammates, specifically LaMelo Ball, Mark Williams, and rookie Brandon Miller were not as good as him. Considering where they stand in rotation, the big man barely matches their capabilities.
Kai Jones ultimately made a trade request on X, which is something he should’ve done privately with the front office. This happens to be a major violation of the players’ code of conduct guidelines. The Hornets waived his entry-level $13.4 million contract, making him a free agent. With Charlotte going into a major rebuild, having a disruptive figure like him would ruin the chemistry within the locker room.
Kai Jones could help the Warriors add depth to their roster
There were multiple instances when Kai Jones claimed that he was the greatest player ever and put down several other NBA stars. Based on his actions over the last few months, it is highly unlikely that he will get another chance to play in the league unless he cleans up his act. Teams are preparing for a potentially competitive season, and having a player like him would cause distractions. Amidst all the chaos, rumors about the Golden State Warriors being interested in Jones have taken the internet by storm.
Imagine all the lobs he’d be catching from Steph and CP3… SHEESH pic.twitter.com/FHzi6AGVa2

One Warriors fan said, “Kai Jones to the Warriors. We can fix him.” They continued, “Imagine all the lobs he’d be catching from Steph and CP3… SHEESH.” Even though this is a fan’s suggestion, Jones will do justice to the Warriors in some ways. Dub Nation needs depth as they traded James Wiseman, the only legitimate center on the team. Draymond Green, Dario Saric, and Rudy Gay, their star big men are all primarily forwards in terms of height.
Acquiring Kai Jones will add more depth to the roster. Jones is best known for his ability to attack and work around the rim. Unfortunately, his stats won’t help as much. Kai has averaged 2.7 points and 2 rebounds in two seasons. The Warriors would need far more than that to be major threats.
