It’s been a month now since Starfield was finally released after being so long in the making. As much as fans enjoy exploring the space setup of the game, there are a few features that the players think could make the game even better. And boom, there comes the modding community to the rescue.
The modding community has been at work since day 1 releasing a plethora of mods to make Starfield’s gaming experience a refined one. And since the developer has confirmed the game has mod support, there is no stopping from building new features for Starfield.
The mods help players tweak almost everything from its inventory screen to the difficulty of its firefights. The best Starfield mods out there are helping numerous players enhance the game in ways the game lacked otherwise.
Most essential mods for Starfield
Mod support is a crucial element of many PC games, especially RPG games. While some mods can be subjective based on player preferences, some are essential for a smoother functioning of the game. Here are some of the essential mods in the game.
StarUI Inventory
This is undoubtedly one of the best mods out there. Players who have played Starfield will know how messy the menu is. There’s a lot of wasted space, not very intuitive, and features a number of animations wasting a lot of time. Here, StarUI compresses player’s lists and presents stuff in a clean list that they can sort by type, weight, and value. Post installing this mod, players can seamlessly pick and choose the items they’re looking for.
Craftable Ammo and Utilities
Starfield has a variety of weapons, utilities, and ammo. Players may often come across moments where they require something specific that they don’t have. Here’s when the Craftable Ammo and Utilities mod can come in handy, giving the player’s crafting skills another layer of depth by creating new items.
Enhanced Player Health Bar
Starfield’s minimal UI is being applauded since it looks great while exploring new planets, however, players are finding it frustrating in the heat of combat when their health is being drained by multiple targets. Currently, the only health indicator is the depleting white bar.
The Enhanced Player Health Bar mod by SilverEzredes fixes this serious issue by color-coding the health bar. The color coding allows players to gauge at a glance how much health they have left. Once the health hits the orange color mark, it indicates a good time to start using a medkit.
Starfield Upscaler
Starfield does not support Nvidia’s DLSS upscaling technology. But thanks to modders this highly requested feature to the game can be used in the game. The mod replaces AMD’s upscaling tech, FSR2, with Nvidia’s DLSS or Intel’s XESS depending on what GPU the player is using.
Responsive Grabbing
In most Bethesda games, the process of stealing is the most typical one – placing an item, such as a bucket or something bucket-shaped, on NPC’s head. The objective is to block the NPC’s line of vision so that they cannot see a thing. Interestingly, the NPCs don’t know how to remove the obstruction from their heads, giving players plenty of time to steal.
However, Starfield has a slight delay when picking up items. Other Bethesda games did not have this delay. Here the Responsive Grabbing mod can help. It fixes the issue by adjusting the delay from one second to just 0.3 seconds for interactive objects, and 0.15 seconds for basic objects.
While these are just some of the most essential mods in Starfield, there are heaps of others out there, and more are expected to come in the future. Meanwhile, these mods can considerably help.
