It has been speculated that Ronaldo wanted to retire after UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany, however, these new reports suggest a U-turn on those plans. Ronaldo has played in five World Cups from 2006 to 2022.
Ronaldo has started five out of six games for Portugal under the new Portugal manager, Roberto Martinez. He has regained his prominence within the squad under the new manager. The forward was out of favor by previous manager Fernando Santos, who dropped him in two matches in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Ronaldo has been off to a flying start in Al-Nassr in the new season. He has scored 11 goals and six assists in 11 matches in all competitions. The Portuguese needs to maintain this kind of form for the next three seasons to ensure his place in the squad when the 2026 World Cup rolls around for him.
