The first planned expansion and update, 2.0 update, was recently released for Cyberpunk 2077. The free 2.0 update which was released on September 21, 2023 and the $30 Phantom Liberty expansion which hit the shelves on September 26, 2023, made significant changes to the game. These included overhauls to police AI, the Perk skill tree, and an in-game economy.
In addition, it also introduced a refined combat system with vehicular combat to the Night City. Although this game-changing update was everything the base game needed, it also came with some glitches. Several PS5 players reported issues regarding corrupted save data, and a bug during The Heist mission wherein the protagonist V falls through an elevator floor.
To solve the bugs that came with the update, CD Projekt RED released Patch 2.01 earlier on October 5, 2023. The developers team shared the new Update 2.01 via patch note which read, “Patch 2.01 for Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty is being rolled out on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It fixes the most common issues players have encountered and improves overall performance on all platforms, especially in Dogtown.”
Additionally, Patch 2.01 for Cyberpunk 2077 also brings along some PC-specific fixes. For example, it fixes the issue where the UI displayed controller inputs while playing on the keyboard and mouse. The patch also improves the image quality of DLSS Ray Reconstruction in the Ultra Performance setting.
Gameplay changes in Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.01
Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.01 also made a handful of changes in the gameplay. While some of these gameplay fixes come as a result of bugs, a few are introduced simply to improve the gameplay experience.

Here are the gameplay changes made by Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.01:
- The patch makes it possible to properly switch to Arm cyberware by cycling through weapons.
- It addresses an issue that caused V to become invulnerable to all types of damage.
- Post the patch a wrecked NCPD cruiser without wheels will no longer be seen patrolling the streets of Night City.
- It fixes the issue where some obsolete mods in the Inventory and Stash were not properly exchanged for a new weapon mod.
- The issue where weapons obtained prior to Update 2.0 could have a Tier that’s too high when compared to the player’s level has been fixed.
- The various obsolete Crafting Specs have been removed from the game.
- The patch gives 1 crafting component after disassembling a Budget Arms Slaught-O-Matic.
Keeping the PC and Phantom Liberty-focused updates aside, the 2.01 update brings several tweaks and fixes for the classic Cyberpunk 2077 quests, gameplay improvisations, and open-world systems. After installing the update, thankfully, Jackie will no longer throw a mysterious tantrum and go off sulking at the noodle stand instead of diving the player to the Ripperdoc. Also, hopefully, players will no longer see any haunted burned-out cop cars roving Night City.
