The issue between Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho doesn’t seem to be resolved. The Dutchman has demanded an apology from Jadon Sancho but he has denied making any kind of apology which has led to worsening their relationship. Reports suggest that United are looking to offload Sancho this winter transfer window in January.
The problems between Sancho and ten Hag began after Manchester United’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on September 3, 2023. Sancho was not included in the matchday squad, and Ten Hag explained that it was due to the player’s ‘poor training performances’. Sancho later took to social media to contradict his manager’s claim, saying that he had been training well and had been made a ‘scapegoat’ for a long time.

After his post, Erik ten Hag banned Sancho from the first team and later from its amenities. He began to train with the junior players. Despite being punished by the manager, Sancho has taken a firm stand with his decision of not apologizing. As ten Hag is not pleased with Sancho’s attitude, he is planning to sell Sancho this winter transfer window.
Sancho was signed for $90 million from Dortmund in 2021. His contract is due to expire in 2026. Currently United is paying him a hefty weekly wage of $430,000. But looking at the current scenario, if the United board led by Richard Arnold and John Murtough decides to terminate his contract, they would have to pay him out about $61 million.
Fans have reacted to Jadon Sancho’s current situation. On X, one fan has posted that Manchester United are overpaying for players. Another fan posted that Sancho is doing unnecessary drama and United should sell him as soon as possible. Another fan posted that United have to take the financial hits every time, as there have been instances of them paying massive transfer amounts.
Manchester United eye Federico Chiesa as a potential successor to Jadon Sancho
According to some reports, United are looking at Juventus winger Federico Chiesa as a potential option to replace Jadon Sancho. The Italian forward is a great player but hasn’t shown his peak form since his last long-term injury. Chiesa signed for Juventus in the 2020-21 season and scored eight goals and provided eight assists in his first season.

After having two bad seasons for Juventus, Chiesa has lit up the field for Juventus in the 2023-24 season. He has netted four goals in six matches for Juventus and is a key player in the Juventus setup. Although Chiesa’s resume has fitness concerns, but when he is fit, he’ll be a real quality player and a perfect asset for Manchester United.
