Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic enjoys a good challenge- in fact, he thrives on them. Therefore it is not surprising that Djokovic issued a warning for their opponents in the next round of the Davis Cup. The Serb has done well this year, and winning the trophy for his country would be the cherry on top. The Serbian team is set to lock horns with Great Britain in the quarterfinals next.
Djokovic had a great run at the slams this year, winning three of them, his latest being the US Open. Novak equaled Margaret Court’s record of winning 24 Grand Slams in the Open Era. And he is eyeing for more. However, his sights are set on the Davis Cup for now.
Djokovic went from lifting the title at Flushing Meadows to guiding his team to the quarterfinals in the same week. The Serbian side took on Spain, and Djokovic defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3, 6-4. His victory sealed the deal for his team, as they qualified into the last 8.

With Serbia drawing Britain in the knockouts, it is bad news for Andy Murray and his teammates. Great Britain pulled off a stunning win against France and will hope to repeat it again in Malaga.
However, it will not be easy with Djokovic around. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has already issued a warning to Britain. He spoke of playing in the Paris Masters tournament, and his plans for lifting the trophy with his county. “To finish off with Davis Cup for Serbia, for my country,” he said (via Daily Express).
Novak Djokovic was last seen playing golf at an exhibition match ahead of the Ryder Cup. He has understandably taken a few weeks off after a hectic schedule.
Novak Djokovic creates another record
Djokovic was back on the tennis court just days after winning the US Open, for his country nonetheless. As with Novak, he created another record when he defeated Fokina.
Djokovic has extended his winning streak at the Davis Cup to 20. The world number one is only the fifth player to have 20 or more consecutive wins at the tournament. The last time Novak lost in the Davis Cup was back in 2011 when he had to retire due to a back injury. Djokovic has also won all 13 of his last matches.

Not many would play Davis Cup right after winning the US Open but Djokovic loves his country. 🇷🇸

Marcos Baghdatis leads the list with 36 wins, followed by Bjorn Borg with 33. Djokovic’s rival Rafael Nadal also features on the list with 29 wins.
Novak Djokovic has an amazing opportunity to lift the trophy with Serbia again. He was part of the team which won back in 2010. Djokovic will hope to replicate his success once again.
