The lawsuit between the Federal Trade Commission v. Microsoft Corporation brought forward many new interesting developments for the gaming community. The documents provided by Microsoft’s legal team brought into light many new updates.
The document showed that The Elder Scrolls 6 will not come to PlayStation. Another important news that came to light was that Microsoft is working on a redesigned disc-less Xbox Series X console along with a new wireless controller.

Both the console and the controller is scheduled to be launched in 2024. Currently, the console is under the codename “Brooklin”.
Microsoft v. FTC legal battle
Microsoft v. FTC was a lawsuit against the former when it went forward to acquire Activision Blizzard. FTC sought a temporary injunction in this deal. The Wall Street Journal in July 2021, alleged that Activision Blizzard’s CEO was engaged in workplace misconduct.
Later Microsoft in January 2022, announced its motive to acquire Activision Blizzard. Microsoft after this deal would become the third-largest gaming company by revenue after it acquired ZeniMax Media for $7.5 billion in 2021. This raised antitrust concerns and the FTC began to review this deal. In December 2022, the FTC filed a legal challenge to stop Microsoft from acquiring Activision Blizzard.
The appeal by FTC was rejected by the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and on July 20, 2023, FTC withdrew its lawsuit against Microsoft.
Xbox Series X|S’s leaked design is cylindrical
The FTC v. Microsoft lawsuit leak showed the design for the new Xbox Series X console and the controller. The document showed that the new Xbox will feature a disc-less version with a new cylindrical design. This design is described as a refresh of the Xbox Series X.

The new Xbox Series X will have an upgraded 2TB of storage, and the Sebile controller will come as a standard. The new Xbox Series X will also come with upgraded Wi-Fi 6E, along with Bluetooth 5.2. This Xbox will also feature a new front-facing USB-C port with power delivery.
Microsoft is also designing a new Xbox wireless Controller codenamed “Sebile”. This controller will feature Xbox Wireless 2, direct-to-Cloud, along with Bluetooth 5.2 and other mobile app integration.
The controller will come with precision haptic feedback and VCA haptics which will also work as speakers. It will also be integrated with motion sensors and accelerometer.
Microsoft is planning to launch the new Xbox Series X at $499 will is the same as the current Xbox Series X. The new Xbox series X will also use 15% less power and come with a new low-power standby mode.
