Cyberpunk 2077 is all set to release its Phantom Liberty update in the coming week. Being Cyberpunk 2077’s only planned expansion CD Projekt Red is making sure not to leave any stone unturned when it comes to the upcoming much anticipated Phantom Liberty update.
Be it the changes that will be introduced with this update or the hype that has been created around it, CD Projekt Red is making sure that everything is on point with the Phantom Liberty update. They recently announced the complete details of what changes and additions would be included in the new updated version of the game.
The highly anticipated DLC would be adding new quests, stories, locations, characters, and abilities, along with a major update to the original game. These changes will bring in the new, and highly requested gameplay systems that have been asking for a long time now.
CD Projekt Red plans on releasing the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty update in two phases. First, the free Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update will be released for all users on September 21, 2023. Similarly, in the second phase, the paid Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC will be made available. The developer has also detailed in advance what the fans can expect in the free version, and what features will come in the paid one.
The paid Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC released on September 26, 2023 will be priced at $29.99 (£24.99) as previously announced by the developers.
Will Phantom Liberty come to PS4 and Xbox One?
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be available from September 21, 2023, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (including Steam Deck). Unfortunately, the DLC will not be released for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game, since the two consoles already received their last major patch with last year’s version 1.6 “Edgerunners” update.
As mentioned above the Phantom Liberty update costs $29.99. Notable, the developers have also launched a special bundle for players who don’t own the base game. The bundle includes the base game and the expansion update priced at $80.

Apart from PS4 and Xbox One, certain PC users also may not be able to avail this update. CD Projekt Red has updated its PC requirements for Cyberpunk 2077 with the Phantom Liberty update. As a result, Cyberpunk will not support HDDs for the minimum requirements anymore. The developers stated, “SSDs offer faster loading times, improved streaming, and better overall performance when compared to HDDs.”
Players who currently own Cyberpunk 2077 with systems below the minimum specs will still be able to play the game.
however, the developer will discontinue active support for them and stop testing the game on those setups post the release of the update.
