The NFL can be rewarding to some while being quite cruel to others. The same happened with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers in a recent match. The game between the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills was special for several reasons. One of the most important among them was that it was Rodgers’ first match with the Jets. However, it didn’t turn out as the star player might have anticipated.
Aaron Rodgers looked quite enthusiastic when he entered the gridiron against the Bills. However, with 10:56 remaining in the first quarter, the 39-year-old star fell to the ground. As per reports, the veteran player was making an attempt to spin out of the sack by defensive end Leonard Floyd. However, his foot got stuck to the turf, and Rodgers sustained a severe ankle injury.

After the injury, the medical team took the NFL star out of the field. However, the teams went on with the game and the Jets thrashed the Bills by 22-16. Reports suggest that Aaron Rodgers has suffered an Achilles tendon injury. Coach Robert Saleh mentioned in an interview that the quarterback’s injury is “not good”. However, the exact details of his injury will be reportedly out after an MRI.
“The MRI is probably gonna confirm what we think is going to happen, so prayers tonight… But it’s not good,” Saleh said. When Aaron Rodgers entered MetLife Stadium, he must have expected a different situation. However, things didn’t go as planned for the Super Bowl winner as he ended up in pain.
When Will Aaron Rodgers be back to play with the Jets after the injury?
After staying with the Green Bay Packers for 17 years of his career, Aaron Rodgers joined the Jets this year. The team was hoping that the star quarterback’s addition to the team would change the team’s fortunes. It’s worth noting that the Jets haven’t appeared in the playoffs since 2010. However, it seems like Rodgers’ wasn’t lucky enough as he suffered an injury in his debut match for the Jets.
As per ESPN, the X-ray reports suggest that the four-time NFL MVP hasn’t broken any bones. However, the exact details of his injury will be known only after the MRI. If it turns out to be a torn Achilles, Aaron Rodgers might have to miss the whole season. Moreover, considering his age, it won’t come as a surprise if this injury even marks the end of his career.
Post Aaron Rodgers’ injury, quarterback Zach Wilson replaced him on the field. After the match, Jets WR Garrett Wilson expressed his grief at Rodgers’ injury. Like every other teammate and fan of the NFL star, Wilson mentioned that he’s “praying for Aaron.” “Seeing him go down and going in and seeing him at half-time was tough… I’m praying for Aaron and his recovery,” he said.
Though the Jets won against Josh Allen’s team, they lost their star player. For now, the whole team must be waiting for Aaron Rodgers to recover soon. However, even if it doesn’t turn out to be serious, the veteran player will still miss several matches.
