Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag talked about England winger Mason Greenwood. The player has recently parted ways with the Red Devils after being fully relieved of all charges of r*pe and physical assault against him.
In a recent interview, Manchester United manager ten Hag was asked about his thoughts on Greenwood and his surprising decision to leave the club.
The Dutch manager replied by saying, “Look, we are not where we want to be with our team, I have a lot of work and a lot of focus on my team, so I focus on the players who are available. I only have statements about our performance, our squad, where we have to improve because it’s clear, we have to improve. I have to put every effort in to get the team to perform”.
The 21-year-old star graduated from the Man United academy. He joined the first team in July 2019. Since then, he has represented the Red Devils on 129 occasions, scoring 35 goals, and has also made 12 assists.

Back in 2022, Greenwood was charged with rape and physical assault cases, which surfaced after the post of his ex-girlfriend Harriet Robson with bruises and injuries surfaced. In the video, she claimed that her partner, Mason, was the one who physically assaulted her. She also mentioned that she was r*ped by the star. Following this, the player was suspended from the club and national team.
Although, earlier this year, Greenwood was cleared of all the charges. This was because the main witness backed off and a few new details of the case came up. Many speculated that the player might be back in the Man United squad after being judged as innocent. But a couple of days ago, he posted a heartfelt message to his fans at the club. The message was followed by his decision to leave the club with immediate effect.
Saudi clubs refusing to buy Mason Greenwood
Saudi Arabian clubs are reportedly refusing to acquire the services of Mason Greenwood for their club. The player is currently available as a free agent after leaving Manchester United this summer.
Previously, it was reported that Steven Gerrard of Al-Ettifaq was interested in signing the England winger. But later, Gerrard confirmed that there was no such thing and that the news was fake.
This sudden distancing of the Saudi clubs from the players is because they aren’t very sure how the rest of the world will perceive it if they bring him to the SPL. This possible move might actually question the morality of the league.

Reports also suggest that A.S. Roma is interested in signing the 21-year-old. However, Roma doesn’t really seem to be interested in signing Greenwood this summer.
With just a few days left for this transfer window to be over, it is to be seen whether Greenwood finds a new home or will have to wait elsewhere.
