The news about Aaron Rodgers making his debut with the New York Jets in the preseason game against the Giants is everywhere now. However, when Robert Saleh went to Rodgers to talk about it, the quarterback wasn’t shocked. When the media asked the quarterback about his conversation with Saleh, he gave an interesting answer.
The 10-time Pro Bowl revealed that the Jets coach was “a little nervous” to ask him to play against the Giants. However, the NFL star was already considering asking him about the same himself.
“There wasn’t much of a conversation with Robert… I think he was a little more nervous… I was already leaning towards asking him to play. So it was an easy conversation,” Rodgers said.

According to Robert Saleh, Aaron Rodgers will be playing multiple series. Their point is clear, they want their game against the Bills to be top-notch. The Super Bowl winner himself mentioned that risks always come up with rewards. Rodgers further mentioned that he has always loved playing preseason games as it helps him “feel the nerves”.
“There’s always that risk-reward. I think over the years it just hasn’t made sense based on a number of different factors… I used to enjoy playing in the preseason in my younger years, just to kind of take that first hit or feel the nerves in the first drive…,” he said. (Via: ESPN)
It seems like Aaron Rodgers is himself excited to get into action on the gridiron against the Giants. His fans and team must be looking forward to seeing how the former Green Bay Packers star performs.
Robert Saleh wants to analyze the performance of Aaron Rodgers before the regular season begins
In a press conference, New York Jets coach Robert Saleh talked about why the team wants Aaron Rodgers to play in the preseason game. Saleh mentioned that the main aim is to analyze the quarterback’s game before the regular season begins. He revealed that he doesn’t want their regular season game against the Buffalo Bills to be Rodgers first.
“I know he’s been in the league a very long time, but we just didn’t want Sept. 11 to be the first time that he stepped into MetLife Stadium,” Saleh mentioned.
The coach reportedly wants to see how Aaron Rodgers performs in the game against the New York Giants. That’s because it’ll allow him to make “adjustments” wherever required. He further mentioned that teams like the Kansas City Chiefs are also making their star players appear in preseason games.
“We’ll see how it goes… I would like to see those guys go through transition and get to the sideline and have some adjustments, and get back to the field and make some more adjustments and play with those adjustments,” he said.
Aaron Rodgers is undoubtedly an impact player, but it seems like Saleh doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned. The Jets want to make sure that everything is in line before entering the regular season.
