Everyone was witness to Sergio Perez and his untimely degradation from race wins to making it of qualifications. After his fall from the top to the back of the grid, a lot of people expressed their disappointment in them. This in turn also affected Sergio Perez’s seat at Red Bull. During the Mexican’s poor performances, Daniel Ricciardo was introduced back in Red Bull as their third, reserve and test driver.
However, after his return havoc broke out with people guessing what Ricciardo would replace Perez. While the Red Bull team bosses, Helmut and Horner kept making it clear that Sergio would not be losing his seat, Helmut still sounded like he was second-guessing his decisions. However, things were seeming unclear for Nyck de Vries amidst it all. After his poor performances, Nyck was told to leave AlphaTauri.

Recently, Perez has found his way back up while Daniel Ricciardo has been sent to AlphaTauri for his next adventure. It was only after the rumors of Sergio being replaced that Ricciardo was said to be replacing Nyck de Vries. However, people are still skeptical about Ricciardo’s coincidental return during Perez’s poor performance.
Christian Horner clears the air around Daniel Ricciardo and Sergio Perez
Christian Horner, the Red Bull team principal, has now come out and made it completely clear that Perez is staying at Red Bull. Horner had confessed before, that Daniel Ricciardo contacted him before the 2023 season after not receiving any contracts. So when Christian Horner was asked if the Australian driver’s return was linked to Perez, he shut down rumors for once.
Christian Horner told Speedcafe, “I don’t think so.” [if the two situations were linked]
“I was keen to bring Daniel back into the fold.”
“I think with Nyck struggling to get to grips with it, it just took on more relevance to give AlphaTauri some direction with an experienced driver.”
Christian Horner said that Daniel Ricciardo was completely lost after his McLaren season. The Australian was broken and had lost the love for the sport. After contacting his ex-boss, he was gladly taken in. And while people thought he was there to replace Perez, it was not the truth. The Red Bull team was working on rebuilding Daniel Ricciardo back.
While Sergio Perez keeps his seat at Red Bull, Ricciardo continues to build his game back up. So far the Australian has failed to earn any points for the team but has shown progress. Sergio Perez on the other hand, has found his way back on the podium after his long slump.
