Lewis Hamilton has been known to be one of the GOATs of the sport. When mentioning Hamilton, fans are reminded of his incredible drive. And his battles with the likes of Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg are hard to miss. He went on to become the only other driver to become a 7 time World Champion after Michael Schumacher.
With Verstappen’s increasing dominance in recent years, Hamilton’s reign in the sport has come up for discussion quite a few times. However, some believe that the Brit might be just a little more successful than Max Verstappen. Lewis Hamilton drove for Mercedes under the charge of Niki Lauda and soon his career would take off. He won his team 8 consecutive Constructors Championships in those years and also won a total of 413 points in just one season.

However, one of Hamilton’s probably most viewed races would be the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2021. The 44-number driver was sent to the back of the grid as a penalty after FIA caught his car for an infringement. This was also the time when Max Verstappen was challenging the Brit. In order to keep himself ahead of the Dutchman, Hamilton only knew he had to win the race.

Lewis Hamilton, despite starting the race from the back of the grid, won the race from P20 to P1 and took away the win from Max Verstappen. This was considered the Brit’s most incredible drive so far with fans naming it as “hammer time”. And needless to say, this is also the driver’s favorite moment throughout his career. Lewis Hamilton has been reflecting on his career recently and he recalled his favorite moment.

He told Formula 1.com, “[Sao Paulo 2021] was the most special race of my career”
“I was so proud to hold this flag on the podium. Growing up I’d always loved Ayrton Senna; I’d watch him when he is carrying a flag”.
“I always have since I was a kid. I was hoping that I would lift up the nation in some way even though I wasn’t from Brazil, except now I am Brazilian”.

He mentioned his role model Aryton Senna and watched him as a kid until it became his own reality. Hamilton has been a Brit but he also earned the honourary citizenship of Brazil making him a Brazilian. That would also be one of the first times Lewis Hamilton waved the Brazil flag as he took onto the podium.
