Red Bull has publicly put an end to Mercedes’ legacy and their record. For years, Red Bull has tried to beat Mercedes and each time they have seen the Silver Arrows rise on the podium. This constant battle has also given us some memorable moments from the sport. However, the tension only started when Max Verstappen was in the car.
After Verstappen started challenging the Brit, Lewis Hamilton, things had become intense. Slowly and gradually, Red Bull caught up to Hamilton and was able to win races against him. During, what would be Lewis’ last season as a race winner, Max Verstappen found himself equaling the Brit’s points. After their long battle, Verstappen took away his first Championship win.
Since then Verstappen has beaten end number of records. Starting with Michael Schumacher’s record of winning the first 10 of the 12 races. He has beaten Sebastian Vettel and Schumacher’s most wins in a season with his 15 wins.
The Red Bull star also has broken Vettel’s record of the highest point percentage. And he has beaten Lewis Hamilton in more than one way, and that is scoring more points than him in one season. But as he annihilates the Formula 1 track, he is capable of giving Hamilton another one of his nightmares.
Will Max Verstappen put an end to the 70-year-long record?
The Dutchman’s dominance is impressive enough but he is now capable of breaking the record of the British Anthem playing on the podium every year. For more than 70 years, Formula 1 has seen the British Anthem play at least once every season. But with Verstappen’s reign in the sport, there is the possibility that he can break the old record.
As the Dutch approaches the races in the second half of the season, he will break the tradition completely. And while Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have come close to Red Bull in the front, it only means Lewis Hamilton will have to give up his chance of winning to keep alive the 70-year-long tradition.
As the drivers enjoy the summer break, Lewis Hamilton might still be trying to find ways to get on top, Max Verstappen is only charging himself. However, it is unfortunate to say that we may not get to see a Hamilton-Verstappen one on one, considering the RB19 leaves a 15+ second gap behind.
Everyone awaits to watch yet another episode of Verstappen’s victories. And with that, the summer break has only opened even more possibilities for the Dutchman and much more to lose for the driver in the Silver Arrows.
