UFC events to be successful require a myriad of parameters that need to be met before the actual fight takes place. Issues include injuries, visa problems and even missing weight before the fight.

Being well-trained can define how tuned a fighter's skills and physical build they're in. Proper fitness ensures that fighters do not miss weights. Here are 5 instances when fighters missed weight.

#5- Khamzat Chimaev, who cut down to 170lbs in ten days, was pulled from the main event against Nate Diaz at UFC 279, when he stunned the world, as he was over by 7.5lbs in the welterweight limit.

#4- Charles Oliviera, back in 2016, failed to make weight as he was 9lbs over the featherweight limit in his final bout in TUF Latin America 3, which forced him to make his lightweight return.

#3- Missing weight twice in his career, Kevin Gastelum, forced to forfeit 30% of his fight purse when he missed weight by 10 lbs over welterweight limit against Tyron Woodley at UFC 183.

#2- Anthony Johnson in his fight against Vitor Belfort at 185 lbs, missed weight by 11 lbs, surrendering a share of his fight purse to Belfort. Prior to this, 'Rumble' had missed weight twice.

#1- Rafael Alves in his featherweight bout against Patrick Sabatini was forced to withdraw as he missed weight by 11.5 lbs. With no choice left, the promotion pulled him from the fight card altogether.

UFC 291 reported a fight cancellation between Stephen Thompson & Michel Pereira, as Pereira weighed in at 174lbs, 3lbs over the welterweight limit making him miss weight a second time in his career.
