After Renault left the Formula 1 scene, Ricciardo found himself at McLaren. His time at McLaren alongside Lando Norris had not been received well by the team. While Lando stays McLaren’s star driver, Daniel Ricciardo was left with no contract in 2023. This was when Ricciardo reached out to Christian Horner who made him the reserve, test, and third driver for Red Bull.
With six months of no seat at the Formula 1 championship, Ricciardo took his spot at AlphaTauri. Although he only has a contract until the end of 2023, he plans on making a comeback with his new seat in F1. This could get him an opportunity for a contract extension or a new contract with some other team, or just Red Bull.
What is Daniel Ricciardo’s salary at AlphaTauri?
Daniel Ricciardo became the test driver for Red Bull and earned himself $6 million for the year. All he had to do was help Red Bull with their promotional events, this would have gotten the Honey Badger $60,000 per day. But after he received a contract from AlphaTauri, he was ready to give it all away for the seat. Nyck, before Daniel’s arrival, was receiving $2 million per year.
This would mean that Daniel Ricciardo could be offered the same contract of $2 million. However, his time at McLaren had gotten him only a $15 million contract meaning this is a step back from his previous contract. Before his move to AlphaTauri, Haas also offered Daniel Ricciardo a contract of $7 million. Ricciardo, however, turned down the offer to stick with his Red Bull team and stayed with AlphaTauri.
