Formula 1 has been known to have some of the longest or oldest tracks in their sport. From Monaco being their oldest to the Spa-Francochamps circuit being the longest one. Although Formula 1 has had these circuits for a long time, they might not continue being in Formula 1 while new circuits get introduced into the sport.
The calendar for the races keeps changing. Due to this, new circuits make their way into the sport and one of them is Las Vegas. In recent years, a lot of circuits have lost their spots on the calendar to be replaced by another track. Miami, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar are one of the few that have been in Formula 1 for not too long.
Las Vegas has been one of the new additions to the calendar with the first-ever race at Las Vegas being in the 2023 calendar too. Although the Chinese Grand Prix and the Imola Grand Prix had been canceled, the Las Vegas track has left fans in anticipation. But with the Las Vegas Grand Prix approaching, there are a few things to know about the race.
All about the Las Vegas Grand Prix
The Las Vegas Grand Prix will be held at the Strip circuit. The Strip circuit weaves its way through famous landmarks, casinos, hotels, and clubs. The drivers will be trying their luck at the Las Vegas Grand Prix at night while they make their way running along the Las Vegas nightlife. The race is scheduled for November 19
The Las Vegas circuit is a 3.8-mile long track and will be a Saturday race. This will mark Formula 1’s first Saturday race since the 1985 South African Grand Prix.
With the race on Saturday, the schedule has been shifted too. The race will be on Saturday which means the practice and qualifications will be pulled forward. The first and second practices will be taking place on Thursday. And the Qualifications and the third practice will be held on Friday. The race will be on Saturday and will be a night race.
Although this is not the first time Las Vegas will have Formula 1 races. Las Vegas has conducted two races in the past. In 1981 and 1982, Las Vegas had been on the calendar and staged its races next to the Caesars Palace Hotel. But with the City of Lights making its return to the calendar it will be at the Strip instead.
