The fight game has witnessed various greats over the years but there have been some to cement their status for generations to come. Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Jon Jones, and Tyson Fury are all surely on everyone’s minds when it comes to the greatest fights, no matter the sport. We have witnessed heavyweights like Mike, Ali, and Fury, but Jon Jones seems to have impressed some with his unique skillset.
There have been some to question Bones‘ choices outside the octagon, but there is no denying that he is one hell of a fighter. He has fought several legal battles in the outside world, but it looks like that has only added fuel to the fire. Recently, Jones beat Ciryle Gane at UFC 285 to claim the heavyweight belt.
What makes Jones special is his work ethic to continue becoming even more dominant than in his last fight. However, he is also an intelligent fighter, one that attacks from different angles without letting his opponent breathe. This could certainly be one of the reasons why many believe that he could beat one of the most fearsome fighters in history; Tyson Fury.
Joe Rogan, said on his podcast with Andrew Schulz, “Let me tell you something, Tyson Fury is an amazing boxer, but he doesn’t have a f*cking chance in hell making out of that room…Zero chance. He would have to catch Jon immediately with one punch, and I just don’t see that happening man.” Fury also reacted to this and said no matter what happened in that room, he would be the one walking out.
Joe Rogan claims Mike Tyson in his prime could beat any fighter in the world
Rogan has made some eyebrow-raising comments in the past, which have sparked controversy as well. When he claimed that Fury could lose to Jones in a fight, many questioned Rogan’s choices. However, even Jones could have been overlooked by Rogan, especially when Iron Mike is included in the conversation. Rogan claimed that Mike could beat any fighter in the world during his prime years.
He said, “Mike Tyson, in his prime, in those years through like 86′,87′, to 89′,90′. Whatever those years were, where he was just storming the gates, I’d put that Mike Tyson against anybody that ever lived. That guy was a special fighter. He was just a juggernaut, you couldn’t stop him! He was a different model of fighter that we had ever seen in the heavyweight division before. A f*cking destroyer man, where every fight was an execution.”
Rogan claimed Jones would beat Fury, but his power will be nothing compared to Mike in his great years. Jones was a nightmare for the light heavyweight division in the UFC, but it must be noted that Mike had that killer instinct that the world has not seen in many fighters.
Even though Jones is a great wrestler, and could use grappling techniques to get the better of Mike, it looks like Rogan believes the latter’s sheer power and hunger could not be a match.
On paper, Jon Jones vs Mike Tyson sure looks like an unusual fight. The UFC icon stands at a 6’4 and has an impressive reach of 84.5 inches. However, Mike stands at about only 5’11 and boasts a reach of 71 inches. However, it must be noted that Mike’s ability to dodge strikes with elite movement, and just simple power could be one of the reasons why Rogan believes he would be undefeated against any fighter in the world.
