Taking a Look at Top 10 Tennis Movies of All Time

Tennis as a sport has gained wide popularity today, but this has expanded with filmmakers producing films based on real-life events in tennis, either as biographies or in a different aspect.

A 2004 romantic comedy, 'Wimbledon', is about a professional tennis player, Peter Colt, struggling with his career and how a female tennis star Lizzie Bradbury helps him regain his title.

A psychological thriller, 2005 'Match Point', portrays the life of a retired tennis star, Chris Wilton, in an affair with his brother-in-law's girlfriend Nola Rice followed by a mystery murder.

The 2012 sports documentary film 'Venus and Serena' depicts the life of real-life sisters and professional tennis players Venus and Serena Williams and the in-depth story of their careers in detail.

The 2014 'Break Point' follows the lives of two tennis players Jimmy and Nick, and their brotherhood who are alienated and reunite to return to the court for a grand slam tournament.

'7 Days in Hell', a 2015 sports mockumentary features the face-off between Aaron Williams and Charles Poole taken from the 2010 Wimbledon Championship match between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut

Based on the 1973 tennis match between women's world champion Billie Jean King and former men's champion Bobby Riggs, the 2017 biography 'Battle of the Sexes' portrays the evolution of women's rights.

A 2017 biological sports drama, 'Borg vs. McEnroe' follows the famous rivalry of Björn Borg and John McEnroe at the 1980 Wimbledon Championships played by Sverrir Gudnasona and Shia LaBeouf.

Adding another sports drama to the list is 2020 released 'Final Set', which focuses on the life of a 37-year-old tennis player Thomas Edison and his struggles to qualify for the French Open.

A British documentary film, 'Citizen Ashe' is a 2021 release that follows the story of a tennis champion and a civil rights advocate, Arthur Ashe, the first African American to win the 1968 US Open.
