Drafted in the NBA in 2013 by the Chicago Bulls, Tony Snell is a basketball player in the G League who last played for the New Orleans Pelicans in 2022.

On June 16, 2023, the former NBA player made an appearance on The Today Show, where he revealed that he was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at the age of 31.

The reason behind the discovery of his diagnosis as said by him was his 2-year-old son Karter, who was diagnosed with the same disorder at the age of 18 months which led him to get a check-up.

He stated- "I'm like, 'You know what, if he's diagnosed with autism, then I think I am on the autism spectrum too. So that gave me the courage to go get checked up."

The player during the discussion also talks about his past life and how he felt different and did things independently and alone, not being able to understand people or connect with them.

The reveal was, however, a turning point in his life in a good way to be able to connect the past with the present and to provide his son with the support needed while going on the journey together.

He went on to say, "I want to make sure my son knows that I have his back and I'm right here with him. We're going to ride this thing together, grow together, and accomplish a lot of things together."

With less awareness and knowledge of 'autism' at that time, it would have been difficult for Tony to cope with it as he and his child could now.
