The wrestling icon-turned-action star, John Cena, delivered a stunning performance in the previous two movies of the Fast and Furious series. He recently showcased his acting skills in Fast X.

Cena shared that he always reads the scripts before committing to a role. He wants to ensure that the character and story align with his interests and skillset.

Cena disclosed in an interview that he was rejected for previous roles in Marvel movies before joining the DC Extended Universe as Peacemaker.

Cena hinted that he came close to playing Shazam and Cable in the Deadpool universe, as he was interested in Shazam`s childish character. Despite his interest, he faced rejection in both instances.

Cena stated, “I can’t tell you how many superhero roles I’ve been rejected for. Shazam is certainly one. There was a brief try at the Deadpool universe, rejection.”

Cena made an exception for “Peacemaker” director James Gunn, citing his reputation as a storyteller. He trusted Gunn's vision and eagerly accepted the role, despite not being the first choice.

Cena's involvement with Peacemaker in the DCEU marked his entry into the world of superhero movies. It took some time for him to explore this genre, considering his popularity.

His rejection of Marvel movies led him to embrace the role of Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad and his own HBO Max series. Despite the initial setbacks, his dedication paid off in the end.
