Former tennis legend and 'Big Three' eldest member, 41-year-old Roger Federer, is a five-time No. 1 player with 20 Grand Slam men's singles titles under his belt.

The legend, however, retired from competitive tennis after playing for the Laver Cup in 2022 in London, citing injuries and surgeries as challenges to moving forward with his professional career.

Federer took to social media announcing his retirement. "Tennis has treated me more generously than I ever would have dreamt, and now I must recognize when it is time to end my competitive career".

In a question-answer session with sports enthusiasts on his Twitter page, the legend gave hints on his comeback on being asking about a possible return to tennis stating, "I never really left."

Quite surprisingly the response created a sense of hope among his fans to which their excitement was seen in their tweets - 'Just one more @Wimbledon Roger', 'Aww man' and more.

Besides this, as little hope is left for his return to competitive tennis, many feel he might return as a sports commentator at Wimbledon this summer.

However, the hope was broken among the fans after his tweet related to it in the session came citing 'no plans to commentate this year!'

Roger Federer's absence, either as a player or commentator on the tennis court, creates an open field for Novak Djokovic to lead the league alone, with Rafael Nadal also out due to injury.
