Tennis legend Serena Williams dominated both singles and doubles, setting several records in each discipline. Yet even the "Queen of the Court" can face abuse from followers, especially on social media.
Williams recently published a story on Instagram that reminded everyone of her skill with a racket in her hand after taking this into consideration.
As Williams won the 2017 US Open, she permanently cemented her legacy by surpassing Steffi Graf's mark of 22 grand slam victories. After over two decades, she surpassed other WTA players as the most successful Grand Slam champion in the Open era.
Williams was carrying her daughter, Olympia Ohanian, at the time she was competing in the competition. When she was 35 and five months pregnant, she won her 23rd and last grand slam.
Because of her accomplishments, she was called the "GOAT" of tennis on social media. However, her dominant and assured playing style, which many fans throughout the years may have perceived as arrogance, also drew criticism from many.
Serena Williams recently uploaded a photo of her accomplishment on her Instagram account, reminding everyone of it.
She is happy and holding up the Australian Open trophy in the photo. "@Olympiaohanian in my tummy," she wrote as the caption for the photo.
Regardless of the criticisms, there is no denying that Serena Williams is one of the best tennis players in history with unbelievable accomplishments.
