Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most famous sports personalities to ever exist. And he has a tendency to answer his critics, no matter what. That’s why the Portuguese veteran has been the face of many controversies throughout his unbelievable. The most long-running case of Ronaldo against Kathryn Mayorga got its final verdict yesterday.
US District Judge Jennifer Dorsey dismissed the case last year. The reason was Kathryn Mayorga’s lawyer Leslie Mark Stovall’s extremely unprofessional and poor approach to the case. Judge Dorsey was stunned to find out that Stovall was solely relying on the ‘Football Leaks’ website’s stolen and leaked records to gather proof against the 38-year-old Portuguese soccer player.
The current lawyer of Ronaldo, Peter Christiansen urged Judge Dorsey to make Mayorga’s lawyer Stovall pay $626,000 of attorney fees. However, the judge reviewed every aspect of the case and decided to grant the motion in favor of the Al-Nassr star. The pay-off however she granted is just a little bit more than half of the amount Christiansen asked for. Stovall owes the Portuguese $334,637.50 reimbursed in legal fees.

What was Kathryn Mayorga’s allegation against Cristiano Ronaldo?
Kathryn Mayorga charged Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2009, almost 14 years ago for alleged rape. She claimed that Ronaldo raped her in a Las Vegas hotel room. When the allegation was made against the soccer player, he was on a holiday trip with his brother-in-law and cousin. Mayorga reported that Ronaldo committed the rape on June 13 of 2009.
At that time Kathryn Mayorga was working in Rain Nightclub, inside the Palms Casino resort. She was also an up-and-coming model then as well. Kathryn said that Ronaldo paid her almost $300,000 to stay quiet about the matter. In an interview with Der Spiegel, she stated to have suffered from trauma and acute depression afterward. The charges that were made against Ronaldo were shown to The Sun.
It said, “Cristiano Ronaldo pulled the plaintiff into a bedroom and on to a bed and attempted to engage in sexual intercourse.” The plaintiff kept screaming “No! no!”. But Ronaldo didn’t listen. The legal papers add, “When Cristiano Ronaldo completed the sexual assault, he allowed her to leave the bedroom stating he was sorry, he was usually a gentleman,” in allegation toward the soccer player.
I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me. Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in. Keen as I may be to clear my name, I refuse to feed the media spectacle created by people seeking to promote themselves at my expense.

Ronaldo however always very strongly denied the claims of the case. He has always fingered at those news reports as ‘fake news.’ In 2018 the case was revisited by the police for further investigation, but nothing was found against him. Ronaldo posted a tweet following the investigation, “I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me. Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in,” in 2018.
The judge has officially closed the case after more than a decade and hopefully, justice has been served to the right person.
