The top manufacturer of cameras and photographic equipment, Canon, has included Maria Sharapova in ads. And it was Joe Pytka who was the photographer.
Sharapova would have been a great candidate to most likely draw a sizable audience due to her reputation and skill as a tennis player.
Pytka took the photos for this commercial. He discusses his experience working with Sharapova in the interview.
Pytka says Sharapova was highly professional throughout the shoot. He also recalls that there was no interpersonal relationship between them.
"It was impossible to connect on any personal level, not that I tried," he said, citing his efforts to get to know and get along with the tennis legend.
It turns out that Pytka, without even attempting, was able to make Sharapova grin throughout the shoot which impressed his client.
This demonstrates Pytka's talent at putting his subjects at ease and bringing out their best characteristics on camera.
For this reason, Pytka places a high value on developing close relationships with the athletes he works with and making sure they are at ease on camera.
