As the Serena Williams vs. Venus Williams matchups were always highly anticipated by tennis fans, there have been a few sibling couples who have achieved similar success in their respective sports.
Serena Williams achieved her 23rd Grand Slam success at the 2017 Australian Open. Nobody, not even her older sister, whom she had beaten to win the season-opening championship that year, was aware of the tiny 20-week surprise.
Rennae Stubbs recently disclosed "And only Two people knew; her agency and her spouse" in an interview with SportsTalkOnPrime.
"And when they were about to play doubles, Venus didn't find out until the very last minute," Stubbs added.
In the Majors, the sisters competed against each other 16 times. However, the 23-time Grand Slam champion, who won 11 matches, dominated the results.
Their most recent meeting took place at the 2017 Australian Open, a Major that Serena won while expecting. None, however, were conscious of the same.
"I heard it from inside the staff," Rennae continued. "They were also meant to play doubles, so you should probably tone down your efforts just on court for Serena. because she is expecting!"
The sisters have competed in 14 doubles finals and have won each one. The Williams sisters, however, were unable to win the 2017 Australian Open doubles championship.
