NBA Team Phoenix Suns’ President Resigns After Serious Allegations

Phoenix Suns president and chief executive Jason Rowley has resigned after a report into workplace misconduct allegations that led owner Robert Sarver to sell the NBA club.

News of Rowley's departure came as the NBA's Board of Governors approved the sale of the Phoenix Suns and women's NBA Phoenix Mercury to an ownership group led by billionaire Mat Ishbia late on Monday.

Rowley began working for the Sun in 2007 and was named president in 2012. He had served the club for almost 15 years and told employees he would not resign after ESPN's report last December on the Suns' workplace complaints.

An investigation conducted by the NBA confirmed the racist and misogynist acts by Robert Sarver and Jason Rowley  prompting a one-year ban and a $10 million fine for Sarver from the league.

Initially, when the news came out, Rowley denied all the allegations, saying he was misrepresented and had no intentions of stepping down, but later on, he seemed to change his mind.

Several sponsors vowed not to support the ownership of Sarver due to the allegations against him, due to which Sarver pledged to sell the team.

A reported $4 billion deal with billionaire Mat Ishbia for the Suns and Women's NBA Phoenix Mercury could be announced this week.

Ishbia is chairman, president, and CEO of Michigan-based United Wholesale Mortgage, the leading mortgage lender in America. The Suns are expected to have a press conference in Phoenix this week introducing Ishbia as the new owner of the team.
