The Sorare is popular for its NFT-based soccer game, but nonetheless, it has also included NBA spinoffs and Major League Baseball. As per the data from CryptoSlam, Sorare has approximately generated $545 million in trade volume.

A 1/1 NFT of Giannis Antetokounmpo sold for $187,000 worth of ETH on Sunday which has set a new milestone for the NFT-driven basketball game, Sorare NBA.

Through the Ethereum-based platform owned by Sorare NBA, Giannis' NFT was auctioned and sold for over $187,000, or 113.9 ETH. It is three times more than Anthony Davis' NFT sale price of $62,000 in December.

Moreover, it is Giannis' biggest known sale to date. It ranks as the 16th largest on-chain Top Shot Sale overall. It is the largest on-chain sale for Giannis, which is worth $95,000 in a single transaction since February 2021.

Even Sorare NBA is unable to match the athlete's highest mark when measured against the physical trading card sale.

Back in September 2022  a rookie card with Giannis’ autograph and a piece of game-won jersey designed into the same card was sold over $1.8 million which made the record of most expensive selling of basketball trading card.

The Sorare NBA followed several months of dropping sales and pricing for the larger NFT market, making the Sorare NBA platform most remarkable for a platform that began in October. For instance, NBA Top Shot had not experienced such high sales in the past 2 years.

It is true that sports trading cards have been gathered, exchanged, and sold for many years. The best-ever Mickey Mantle baseball card was auctioned off for $12.6 million in August 2022, and a Stephen Curry card was auctioned off for $5.9 million in July 2022.
